Road Department


The Thomas County Road Department is responsible for 113.8 miles of county gravel roads, 118.3 miles of county asphalt roads, 47 miles of roads in East Hale Township, and 125 miles of roads in Rovohl Township.

Major Road Projects Planned for 2007:
  • Overlay and seal 11 miles of asphalt from Rexford north to the county line
  • Overlay and seal ¾ mile of asphalt at the U.S. 83 Bypass at Oakley
  • Elevate 3 miles on County Road #465 (also known as CR 36) from county line north
  • Graveling county and township roads.


Noxious Weed Department



The Thomas County Weed Department is responsible for noxious weed and prairie dog control in Thomas County. Our main goal is to identify areas in need of noxious weed and prairie dog control and advise the public on current control and eradication techniques.

V. Cost share program works several ways.
A. Chemicals picked up at Thomas County Weed Department.
B. Cost shared through local dealers. Must be pre-approved by County Weed Director.
C. Reimbursed directly to grower if bill is previously paid by grower and approved by County Weed Director.
